Orgain Protein Powder Ingredients

The way to build muscle effectively is to eat proper protein. After all, your body is made up almost entirely of protein. Even at the most basic level of sports nutrition, you’ll need a container with a single protein source – plant-blend, soy, or casein.

One protein powder that impressed many fitness enthusiasts is the Orgain Organic Protein. It blends well and tastes delicious. It is also one of the highest-rated protein powders on Amazon and in vitamins and supplement stores.

But what’s exactly in it that makes it popular? And is it true that it contains ingredients that may potentially cause stomach issues based on a few negative reviews? Let’s find out the answers by knowing the complete list of the Orgain Organic Protein ingredients.

This list will help you know how each may affect your overall health. We also share our general impressions, including its mixability, texture, taste, effectiveness, and value.

About Orgain Organic Protein

Orgain Organic Protein Powder is a nourishment drink that contains five grams of organic powder and 21 grams of organic protein per serving (2 scoops/46g.)

It is vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free, USDA organic, and soy-free. It contains no preservatives, artificial colors, and artificial flavors. You can mix it with water or milk and drink it post-workout or throughout your day.

About Orgain

The company behind this is Orgain, which earned a good reputation in the dietary supplements industry. Founded by Dr. Andrew Abraham, he saw the need for a better nutritional protein powder while undergoing cancer treatment.

Dr. Abraham’s belief that real nutrients can make a difference in people’s lives goes into everything they create at Orgain. They claim to hand-select high-quality and organic ingredients to maximize nutrition whenever possible.

However, a class action has been filed in the California federal court. Plaintiffs alleged that the Orgain ready-to-drink protein shake is misleading, especially on the “16g. protein per serving” representation. In 2021, another lawsuit claimed that Orgain did not disclose the presence of artificial flavors on its front label.

It is unknown whether these are ongoing lawsuits, but the company took note and changed its formula.

Highlighted Ingredients

  • Organic Protein Blend (Organic Chia Seed, Organic Brown Rice Protein, and Organic Pea Protein)

Chia seeds are high in fiber, which lowers blood pressure, adds bulk to one’s diet, and extends the feeling of fullness. On the other hand, brown rice can give you energy during your workout and help you fight body fatigue.

Brown rice is produced by several steps of fermentation, enzymatic processes, and filtration to remove fiber and protein from the whole grain brown rice. As a result, it becomes a natural and hypoallergenic vegan rice.

Meanwhile, the pea protein content in the organic protein blend is a good source of iron. It can aid in weight loss, heart health, and muscle growth.

  • Organic Rice Bran Extract

Rice bran is a good source of vitamin E and unsaturated fats. It may improve insulin resistance and support healthy blood sugar levels. Moreover, some compounds in rice bran have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

Testing Out the Orgain Protein Powder: Our Impressions

Texture and Taste: Rating 9/10

We’re pretty impressed with the texture and taste of the Orgain Protein Powder. Our team tried the Chocolate and Vanilla flavors. Both have creamy textures and taste delicious. The Creamy Chocolate flavor has notes of caramel fudge, while the Vanilla flavor has a subtle sweetness.

Don’t worry, though, as there’s no added sugar. Both flavors are among the best-selling plant-based protein powders on the market. We also like that it is high in protein, made without soy ingredients, vegan, kosher, and gluten-free.

Orgain has likewise included an “Organic Creamer Base,” which contains Organic rosemary extract, organic rice bran, and organic inulin. These ingredients work together to give the protein shake a taste and a creamy texture.

Mixability: Rating: 9.5/10

The Orgain organic vegan protein powders work well in water and almond milk. It has a creamy texture and no clumps. We tried adding both flavors to hot coffee, but it doesn’t dissolve quickly as when we used water.

Here’s a brief breakdown of what we did when we tested the products’ mixability:

  • Add refrigerated almond milk to a protein shaker.
  • Add protein powder.
  • Shake for 45 seconds.
  • Once shaken, consume immediately.

Effectiveness: Rating: 8/10

The Orgain Organic Protein plant-based powder is clean nutrition. It is preferred by many because it does the job of helping them build lean muscle and lose weight. Take note, however, that its protein content is only 21g per serving, which is a bit lower protein content vs. other vegan protein powders. That’s expected because it’s a plant-based protein.

Few people have also experienced digestive issues when taking Orgain, and we believe it’s because of the Erythritol sweetener in the product. It can cause stomach pain, diarrhea, gas, or even headache, depending on how sensitive a person is.

To others, plant-based protein powders are giving them an upset stomach, regardless of the brand they tried. Or, it could just be that you’re using too much or taking it too fast.

Value: Rating: 8.5/10

This Orgain organic vegan protein powder is a bit on the higher side. However, it’s worth it since it’s made with certified organic ingredients, like chia seeds, organic pea protein, and brown rice.
